Quickly Switch You Default Browser and Keyboard Shortcuts with Raycast
If you're a developer who uses multiple browsers to keep your personal and work environments separate, you know how frustrating it can be to constantly switch between default browsers and different application shortcuts.
I'm using BetterTouchTool to quickly open my most-used applications (browser, IDE, Postman, LogSeq...). I've been using ControlPlane (https://github.com/dustinrue/ControlPlane) for some time to switch my default browser, but I've now perfected my setup using Raycast, Finicky and BetterTouchTool.
I'm sharing a basic Raycast extension written that allows you to quickly switch your default browser and application shortcuts via BetterTouchTool and Finicky.
The shared code is not intended to be used as it, rather to be cloned and customized to fit your own needs and your own config.
I'm always eager to learn ways of improving my efficiency on my Mac, so please share what you've setup on your end

Do you know of a good way I can auto open & close a program at a scheduled time each day? (macOS Ventura)
It's ancient and I can't recommend it for any production tasks, but Imma still mention ControlPlane. Great for triggering all sorts of actions based on time of day, attached peripherals, (B)SSID, etc.

Apple Removes Network Locations Feature in macOS Ventura
FWIW When I used to go to the office (back in the before time) I used an app called ControlPlane to do that sort of thing.

How do I move tools and workspace together?
(I actually don't switch between them most of the time, as I've set up Control Plane to run little Applescripts that change the workspace when my external monitor shows up/vanishes. It was a little fiddly to set up but well worth it.)

Is there an app that'll let me show the dock when an external display is connected (and hide when not)?
It probably does, I personally use ControlPlane, hasn't been updated in a while but it still works pretty well for me, free and open-source.

Show HN: NotesOllama – I added local LLM support to Apple Notes (through Ollama)
Another option for hacking something like this together could be HammerSpoon. I’ve spent some time with it, but haven’t tried integrating with Apple Notes, I mostly did stuff at the file system level to keep it easy.

Little macOS Apps That Make a Big Difference in 2024

[Hammer Control] Hammerspoon + SelfControl = Scheduling SelfControl

getting current desktop to show on lockscreen? (MacOS Ventura)
Assuming no one has a cut-and-dried solution that just works, would something like this be possible with say, AppleScript or another scripting tool like Hammerspoon? I've not used either of these tools before, but would be open to seeking out a scripting solution on my own if it's viable. Or am I going to run into insurmountable security restrictions?

Spark (not the email app). There are others like Hotkey and Hammerspoon.
