My path has been Harvard CS50 -> freeCodeCamp -> appAcademy Open. If I could go back I would have skipped the parts of FCC that I did and went straight to aA open. I can’t speak to the curriculum that is offered in the boot camp (though I’ve seen it is not as good as what they used to offer and what is in the Open curriculum) but what is used for Open is very good and definitely very challenging. I also like that it teaches you how to set up a local dev environment as even though an employer would set that up for you I think it’s important to understand how you get the tools into your machine. Once I finish Open I’ll probably try and start applying to jobs as well as try and volunteer for a non profit called Ruby for Good. They’re a skill based volunteer opportunity that builds software for other non profits to get experience on my resume.

I recommend CS50x from Harvard, it's free and teaches you the basics of C, some Python, some other things. The teacher explains things incredibly well. You can find it on Youtube or https://cs50.harvard.edu/x/2021/

Unity Hub on linux fails to log me in
reddit.com/r/Unity3D | 2021-10-24
problem: I downloaded the unity hub launcher from unity.com. After launching the app, i clicked sign in and a website that had opened in my browser prompted me to log in. I logged in but nothing happened after that. I just see a white page and nothing else. I can't use Unity Hub because I can't log into the app itself.

Silly question, but I am having trouble downloading Unity from the official website, the free version. Could anyone tell me how to access the download page?
reddit.com/r/Unity3D | 2021-10-21
On unity.com I press Get Started but am unable to navigate to the download page from there. All tutorials I've seen have a page where it has different versions, free and paid. Please, any advice would be nice.

Pygame is a good option. But if you want to get in game development you should check Unity out, it works with C#. There's plenty of tutorials and documentation.

I have an idea for a basebuilding/simulation game - are there game makers out there looking for new ideas?
reddit.com/r/BaseBuildingGames | 2021-10-03
There are many excellent tools and assets, and most of them are free at the beginning. So you can just install Unity, Blender, listen to Youtube tutorials, download animations from Mixamo and get started. Honestly, you will be surprised by the excellent infrasructure.
What things should I learn to make this game? Where do I start when it comes to learning these skills?
reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions | 2021-10-03
A lot of people have begun learning game development on Unity. You can create pretty sophisticated game logic using visual tools Unity provides that don't require any coding. At some point you may need to start learning some coding as well though in order to expand on the built in capabilities Unity provides, but this is something you can start learning as you go.
