  • Programming games with python?
    Pygame is a good option. But if you want to get in game development you should check Unity out, it works with C#. There's plenty of tutorials and documentation.

  • I have an idea for a basebuilding/simulation game - are there game makers out there looking for new ideas?
    There are many excellent tools and assets, and most of them are free at the beginning. So you can just install Unity, Blender, listen to Youtube tutorials, download animations from Mixamo and get started. Honestly, you will be surprised by the excellent infrasructure.
  • What things should I learn to make this game? Where do I start when it comes to learning these skills?
    A lot of people have begun learning game development on Unity. You can create pretty sophisticated game logic using visual tools Unity provides that don't require any coding. At some point you may need to start learning some coding as well though in order to expand on the built in capabilities Unity provides, but this is something you can start learning as you go.

    Unity3D - 2D & 3D { One of the most powerful game engines in existence. Has tons of documentation and tutorials, so learning is easy. Also has visual scripting for non-coders. Is free to use, but on the free version there is a splash screen that says 'Made in Unity', which some people don't like.}

    Some tools allow a mixture of code and drag and drop. They are a bit harder, but allow a lot more flexibility in the games. https://unity.com/, https://defold.com/, ...
  • Trying to make a chain in my game, I gave up and followed multiple tutorials but it just doesn’t work! I mean technically it does? But if the lantern is bumped it moves super slow and weirdly, more like a snake in zero gravity than a chain :/ any idea how I fix this? I have a video but it’s super

    So I'm still decided to learn Unity and do a project with it. However, my C# knowledge is close to nil 😛. I've known about Phaser for a few years now, and stayed away from it for multiple reasons, the main one being that there really isn't a big community, compared to other engines like Unity or Godot. But currently, it's almost fully compatible with Typescript, which in my head, is acting like a stepping stone to C#. So I went it it.
  • My mod RPG Overhaul is on hold! Please read this until the end
    So I decided to put it in my "things to do" list and start more simple on modding, like a simple full week mod or something. I started to learn C#) as I wanna develop games with Unity, and learning C# would also get more familiar with OOP and High-Level Programming Languages so then I can go back to Haxe (the language HaxeFlixel is built to work with) and understand it better.
  • Write Decentralized Unity Games using Reach
    dev.to | 2021-09-21
    In this tutorial, we’ll walk through the process of building a simple Unity game on the blockchain using Reach — a development platform which lets programmers build decentralized apps as they would a traditional application.
  • Good programs for young teens?
    Unity and Unreal Engine 5 are more difficult (both Free-ish), but are also used a lot in the industry. A lot of the code these two use are C and C#, so those languages may be ones they should learn if they want.
