Self-generated seedphrase.
Much easier, you don't have to try so many words, maximum 16 words. It's described here: https://github.com/taelfrinn/Bip39-diceware

Scammed
I think it's best to create your own seed phrase, but the last word has to meet the checksum requirements ane I couldn't get it to work. Here is a tutorial but it didn't work for me - I might try again if I have the time: https://github.com/taelfrinn/Bip39-diceware

Paranoid Security question
If there's concern about the RNG, you can [manually generate a key using dice](https://github.com/taelfrinn/Bip39-diceware). Real randomness! Call me paranoid, but IMO it's worth the extra 30 minutes or whatever. One less thing to trust.
- Is it still "my keys, my crypto"?
- LEDGER HELP! Is this text new? Or got this device hacked before? The package was a bit weird.

Create a wallet with geth only
You can use the BIP 39 word list along with dice and a coin to select 23 random words, then use a bip39 brute force tool to find the last word. If you use this method, you'll follow up with Ian Coleman's tool to get the actual private keys and addresses.
