Lessons Learned: Ender 3 Pro Upgrades
BigTreeTech TFT35 v3.0: I had bought this as a bundle purchase with the SKR Mini E3 V1.2. This aftermarket touchscreen really improved my experience directly on the printer at the cost of un-foreseen issues. Actually, just one issue, and I didn't know it was an issue. So I mentioned ABL issues, well, I even replaced the BLTouch too to fix them. Only then did I find out; the screen has its own firmware. That is critically important information should you ever want to get a ABL working with it. I replaced both pieces of hardware but kept the same screen before finding this out. Basically, if you wish to use an ABL you have to make sure the firmware for your board and your aftermarket screen are flashed for it. In BigTreeTech's case, they have a Github Repo for both their SKR Mini Boards and TFT screens \not the) manuals repo tho, not sure why that exists\).Prior to flashing TFT firmware it would allow me to send BLTouch commands but did not save any mesh data. After updating it, it now runs commands as expected and without issue. The touchscreen and UI are great once you get used to them. In particular, the Probe offset functionality and bed mesh grids are grade tools the touchscreen makes easy to use. I turn off all sounds though, the constant beeps drive me insane lol.

Fixing poorly documented BTT TFT 3.5 issue: Backlight but no startup
So just to put this out here so I don't feel guitly for keeping this solution for myself, I had some problems with my SKR V1.4 Turbo and I shorted out the pins for the heater on my extruder. I don't know the exact details but this resulted in my display not booting up anymore: It just went black, you could see it was on and the red LED was functioning aswell (D2) but D1 was off. After looking through some files on the github of the THT 3.5 (https://github.com/bigtreetech/BIGTREETECH-TFT35-V3.0) I came to the conclusion no one has documented this problem, so thought this'd be the right place for it. You can simply solve this issue by shorting the D1 with a 680 Ohm resistor - after this the display will boot and ask to select a mode (Marlin or "Modern"). Cheers!

SKR PRO 1.2 & TFT35 E3 V3 firmware
I've never seen the 3dwork site before, thanks for that! Look at the settings/config options here and see if they map into that site. Also make sure to check if you need "serial_port_2 1". That was a key for me, everything else was configured correctly but the motherboard wasn't talking to the screen.

BTT TFT 35 Customize buttons on the main screen
You can't do much to change the menu contents and almost nothing to change the menu structure in config.ini. That's why I wrote you'd have to edit the firmware source files, such as the Menu files under https://github.com/bigtreetech/BIGTREETECH-TouchScreenFirmware/tree/master/TFT/src

CR-10S5 with SKR1.4T and TFT35 v2.0: can I improve functionality?
Thanks for the ideas. According to the readme, the TFT35 v2.0 only has the RS232 connection, not the EXP connections. It's bolted into my case, I haven't unbolted it yet to visually check for myself. And, according to the readme, the TFT35 v2.0 only supports touchscreen mode, not Marlin mode.
