Cloud backup for Linux
There are various backblaze-b2 apps in the AUR, including this one for working with it from the CLI. Haven't tried any of them myself.

Exclude unsupported characters with b2 sync?
Currently I am just excluding the entire directory, as suggested here https://github.com/Backblaze/B2_Command_Line_Tool/issues/322, but would prefer to only exclude the few offending files.
-
b2 - How do I get the url of my uploaded image?
No, I don't think there's one API call for it. You can check to see how their tool does it.
-
Is there a private service to share videos with my students?
Not a 'service' per se, but you can create a public bucket in Backblaze B2 and upload files using the web interface, the b2 command-line client, or something like rclone. Once you upload, you can create friendly URLs using e.g. b2 make-friendly-url or the web interface and distribute those. Linking directly to the media file should let students stream it using the built-in HTML5 video player. Depending on how many students you have, be mindful that download/streaming does cost 1 cent per GB per day, but you can use e.g. CloudFlare or other integrations for free egress.

Cloud backup for Linux
I see. Well, there's also a github project that's a docker container that runs the bb-personal software using WINE. Seems like a lot of extra steps, but 7$/mo for unlimited storage is pretty sweet.
