Microsoft Edge ignores user wishes, slurps tabs from Chrome without permission
I only really play single player, but I have run into this too. This is a great resource to keep track of progress - https://areweanticheatyet.com/
-
Bazzite – a Steam0S-like OCI image for desktop, living room, and handheld PCs
It varies by game. https://areweanticheatyet.com/ is an interesting resource for that because they also track announcements by developers about whether or not linux support is eventually planned.
- So you're removing the possible access to play my old games I bought?

Making the switch - what are the gaps?
Apart from that, Linux gaming is actually there, except for some anticheat enabled games : https://areweanticheatyet.com/
For "normal" games you could look yourself using ProtonDB regarding every game released on Steam and AreWeAntiCheatYet for most multiplayer games. If a game isn't available on Steam you have three possibilities. First if it's available on GOG, Epic Games or Amazon Gaming, you could use the Heroic Games Launcher. Second you could try to run the launchers through Steam itself using once again Proton. Third you could try installing it with a script or tutorial in Lutris or Bottles.
The only caveat to that is online games with anti-cheat. EAC and BattlEye both support Linux but requires studios to tick a box, many of which refuse. Any kernel-layer AC that doesn't have a userspace component will not run on Linux. Can see a list of games and their AC support here.

Wine 9.0 RC1 – Run Windows Applications on Linux, BSD, Solaris and macOS
> except Multiplayer online games
That's no longer the case. I'd say about now, there are more multiplayer games that you can play, as opposed to ones you can't play.
See: https://areweanticheatyet.com/ as reference, but it's not very up-to-date, so https://www.protondb.com/ would probably be a better reference.

Are there any major sacrifices you make to play on Linux over Windows?
Nope, just works. There are some games that use invasive kernel-level anticheat that wont work as Linux sensibly blocks anything that shouldn't be messing with the kernel, but I'm not personally interested in those games anyway. EAC and Battleye both support Linux, but requires devs to tick a box, which there's several that can't be bothered.

5 years ago Valve released Proton forever changing Linux gaming
A surprisingly big number of anti-cheat games work on Proton:

Microsoft Will Eventually Start Charging You for Windows 10 Security Updates
I had more problems with it being wide, merging all app windows in a single icon, showing only icon rather then app title, and not being able to move to top of screen
That may be fixed with https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher which restores win10 bar, there's no builtin solution to any of the above afaik

Screenshots from Windows 95
Thanks for letting me know. I looked into it, and apparently it's still even possible to activate on later versions of Windows with registry edits and helper software: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/discussions/167

Rectify11 Improving upon the Windows 11 experience
Not going to install something that seems so vague, but I do use ExplorerPatcher [1] on my Windows 11 machines to basically re-create Windows 10 UI and fix all of the annoyances I have with Windows 11. I've got the old right click menu, the old task bar, the old alt-tab interface, pretty much the whole thing. Only reason I use Windows 11 over Windows 10 is because Windows 11 seems to handle my triple monitor setup better, especially when waking up from sleep.

WIN 10/11: Can anyone else confirm if this library works on windows 11?
ExplorerPatcher is another alternative, is free and is awesome. That said, I settled for SAB because I liked, so I decided to show some love to the developer. My son liked better ExplorerPatcher, so there's that... you can always find options for everyone.

Thoughts on Windows 11?
I use the start menu app list and hate how you can’t get that instantly on windows 11 (there’s a button you have to click). I used this program to restore the windows 10 start menu that has been tweaked to look more like windows 11. The only problem I have is that some programs don’t appear. You can still search them, but they aren’t in the list. You could probably drop your own shortcuts in there if it bothers you. Another tweak is the context/right click menu. There's a program that, instead of simple tweaks that restore windows 10 menu or windows 11 "show more options", it is a customizable one more similar to the original windows 11 menu. However, it is not for everyone and there are some extra menus that are added when installed that can be deleted.

Tiny11builder ISO and TronScript
TronScript close itself after "Launch Job 'ProcessKiller'...". Can ExplorerPatcher by valinet (https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher) be the problem?
