I’d love to hear what your favourite games were this year and what you’re looking forward to!
Wlw romances: Isra (and her sequel link) - she's a paladin of the goddess of love and beauty. Nice if you like knightly types who don't take themselves too seriously, and I like the pacing as well - a little flirting in the first game, and an opportunity to seriously pursue one another in the sequel. Probably my favorite wlw character I've found. Sirene (and her sequel link) - more on the angst-ish side. She's a paladin as well, but she has demonic heritage. Again, nice pacing, good if you enjoy a slow burn kind of romance. Sarah - Sarah is a sweetheart, honestly. A bit shy but well-meaning, and though she's not devoid of angst or sorrow she's a refreshingly normal character.

Recommendations for after Dragon Age?
Okay, so the mods I've played are Sirene, Isra, and Sarah. The first two are paladins and the last one is a ranger, and they're all good-aligned. They fit pretty well into the game - no massively out of character writing, no serious Mary Sue tendencies, etc. I liked that Isra and Sirene are available in the first game as well because I'm a sucker for slow-burn romances. Overall the quality of their writing and voice acting is pretty good. The mod scene is still quite large and surprisingly active. Sorta interesting that it's generally had a large number of women modders, but - sadly, like reality - has a bit of a heterocentric bias.
What are some alternatives?
BG1NPC - The BG1 NPC Project adds a great deal of content by expanding the depth of character and levels of interaction with the NPCs from the Baldur's Gate game. Requires Tutu, BGT, or BGEE.

Isra_NPC_BG2 - This mod adds Isra Ghadir, a cavalier paladin of Sune Firehair, to Baldur's Gate II. She is playable through to the end of Throne of Bhaal. You can find her in the Den of the Seven Vales in Waukeen's Promenade, where she is looking into some family concerns.
Portraits-Portraits-Everywhere - Portraits Portraits Everywhere (PPE)
Neera_Expansion - This mod adds a series of dialogues to the lovely elven wild mage Neera, in an effort to help flesh her out and give the game a little more content for those who've played through it a half-million times. For the romantically inclined, it also adds a number of flirts that you can initiate if you force-talk her.
