Any good themes for codding?
I did quite a bit of colorscheme-jumping when I started until I found one that ticked almost every checkbox for me: sorcerer. I then spent a couple years with it, tweaking things here and there, until I finally decided to tick the remaining checkboxes myself and release my own version, Apprentice.

coloring the output of shuf
Checkout man console_codes for a more complete description of how to use colors. (Frankly, that man page is kind of hard to read, so I just use a cheat sheet.)

show picture, read user input after prompt, write input to csv, show next picture, and so on. could this be done in bash?
This sounds like a great application for dmenu! Here's a script I wrote a while ago that has components of what you're looking for.

Pipe into less but let it keep scrolling automatically as the characters come and also let it close automatically?
Here's a little script that I think basically does what you're describing.
- A utility to inspect exactly which characters are sent from stdin (via piping or typing on the keyboard)

Any good themes for codding?
I wrote my own theme that I call Plasticflower. TBH, I think most people would find it gaudy and I intend to write a new theme at some point. However, I found it a good exercise, understanding how to themes are written, and I recommend it. (Imgur is being a butt and won't let me upload screenshots.)
