In my probably-not-so-informed knowledge, the big difference here is display servers. Android doesn't actually use X or Wayland like desktop Linux does, so you can't run desktop Linux apps on a phone without an app like Xserver XSDL. No more crashing! I didn't show that it continues playing with VNC viewer minimized.

I recommend trying out https://github.com/termux/termux-x11 it performs better than VNC if you don't care about remote access
