On Discord, someone told me that if you pick up a tank that has petroleum gas in it, you should be able to handcraft plastic. But apparently that isn’t true?
fun fact, the eponymous blog has the name Alt-F4 to pay homage to the quick crafting menu

My Space-Exploration Base after 250 hours
This is my Space Exploration 0.5 base after around 250 hours. I started in December 2020 of the Alt-F4 public SE server inspired me. I've completed all four tiers of the four space sciences, and they all fit in my lovely Doughnut Base (TM). And I must admit, Space Exploration has probably been the most fun I've had in a Factorio playthrough. The mechanics, logitistic puzzles, feeling of exploration, graphics, and pure design. It could just as well be the official expansion of Factorio. Well done Earendel for truely creating a masterpiece!

What is a mod that you think more people should know about?
You have my interest! As for the modpack info, I think we can put together an article in Alt-F4 about it sometime, as it is definitely stuff that everyone is interested in.

Can anyone explain how Prod + Speed modules can be more efficient than Eff modules?
You may find it helpful to take a look at alt-f4.blog, issue #12 with an article from TheKool on productivity modules, issue #16 on speed modules, issue #25 on efficiency modules, and issue #29 on beacons.

Factorio and STEM Careers
Hi all! I'm currently writing a piece for Alt-F4 about how Factorio (and other similar games) have inspired me to go into STEM, specifically robotic engineering. For the piece, I would love to know if you have any stories about how Factorio has inspired you to study STEM further, helped you pick a future career or even just impacted your current job.

Applying a tech research cost multiplier to a Seablock run
Using a planner like YAFC, Foreman, Helmod, and Factory Planner is highly recommended. Also, the following mods are recommended for a megabase needed to finish a high-multiplier game:
-
Py, but at work.
It's not a website but try YAFC. It's the best planner for Py.

Fresh meat to the grinder
Planning tools/mods come in many shapes and sizes. I personally like Helmod but it took a while to learn it. There is also Factory Planner. Or external tools like Foreman or YAFC.
-
(Space Exploration) Am I the only one who finds it impossible to plan out a build without a clear visualization of the production chain like this? And why is it impossible to find charts or tools like this?

Comparing the flowcharts of the major mods
Its called YAFC. Although it could use some fixes still.

Seablock noob
Use an external planning tool like YAFC
-
my spread used to make my builds
There is a mod for that, and a mod for that, and a website for that, and another website for that, and a standalone application for that for big modpacks like Seablock and Py
- App for Factory Planning?
