Where to download madVR?
These days i use MPCVR, since it's much simpler and still does all the important stuff that madVR does.
-
In recent update, Firefox finally added support for the Nvidia Video Super Resolution, catching up to other chromium web browsers and software
This fork is no longer needed. The original MPC Video Renderer has been updated to support NVIDIA Super Resolution.

Looking for PC video player that can skip back/forward by 5 seconds or less with just 1 click?
Don't forget https://github.com/Aleksoid1978/VideoRenderer/releases So you can play HDR on SDR displays without it looking shitty.
-
NVIDIA RTX Video Super Resolution is now supported by VLC media player - VideoCardz.com
It looks like this fork isn't needed anymore. The original MPC VideoRenderer by Aleksoid1978 now supports Super Resolution too: https://github.com/Aleksoid1978/VideoRenderer/releases

Nvidia GeForce 531.18 WHQL graphics driver
Now let's hope video player devs will look into it too, I asked MPC-BE dev about it here a few weeks ago, seems the way they render with ID3D11VideoContext should let it work, hopefully now drivers are out they might look into it more: https://github.com/Aleksoid1978/VideoRenderer/issues/77
-
Chrome 110 brings NVIDIA RTX Super Resolution support - VideoCardz.com
(I've asked MPC-BE devs about looking into it but seems they don't have any RTX hardware, and not sure how interested they are... hopefully an RTX owner can try looking into adding it sometime: https://github.com/Aleksoid1978/VideoRenderer/issues/77)
-
Google Chrome 110 released with RTX Video Super Resolution enabled by default
For what it's worth I asked MPC-BE devs about adding it here: https://github.com/Aleksoid1978/VideoRenderer/issues/77

RIP 4090
I struggle finding/playing even 10bit content, it's rare I get to use all 10bits. No free video players output it out of the box AFAIK and I was unsuccessful configuring MadVR/AviSynth scripts & filters. After banging my head against the wall I eventually found this MPC-HC plugin https://github.com/Aleksoid1978/VideoRenderer/releases. One of the features it provides is mapping 10bit HDR to 10bit SDR, as I don't have an HDR monitor, but damn do movies look so much better.

is it true if I use the Kodi windows app instead of mpc be I'll be able to see hdr on my pc? I don't have a PC powerful enough to use mad VR
Your best bet to view HDR on a display that doesn't support HDR (with a computer too slow for madVR) is with mpv Or if that doesn't work, then MPC-BE with MPCVR.
-
What does madVR offer in typical use?
Thats the mpc video renderer, it also has good scaling options and covers all the other basics. Yet it can be faster and is much simpler to setup/use, so i always recommend giving it a try and than you can also directly compare it to MadVR.

Ask HN: Most interesting tech you built for just yourself?
Eh, at the moment a universal remote control app for my home theater. I expanded it somewhat for many other devices than I need, for friends and people on the AVSForums who requested things.
https://github.com/nicko88/HTWebRemote
It's not all that impressive per say, but a number of people seem to really like it.
Also an app to add a "wind" effect to a home theater as well.

- What’s everyone using for their universal remote???
- Any IR blaster that an HTPC can trigger to turn on all the devices?
- Is there any way to have a remote media player remotely play individual videos?
