After thinking about the problem for a while I realised that I could enlist the help of CSSTree to do some of the work. The CSS Analyzer is based on CSSTree's AST, so I know how the thing works and the dependency is already on the page, so no need to download more dependencies. Prettier + Postcss cost almost 340kB to download, which isn't huge, but it would be nice if we could reduce that amount.
Would love to see how bfs compares to fdir[0] for directory traversal. Even though fdir is using Node.js underneath, the comparisons I have done with fd & find are pretty close. Of course, bfs would probably be quite a bit faster...but how much faster exactly?
Disclaimer: I am the developer of fdir.

To do this, the parse-html-stream library that I have recently put in open-source, supports also walking through the tree of nodes during streaming, allowing you to do incremental rendering, while you walk through the tree the library is parsing the HTML chunks in the order they arrive, and while you have the parsed nodes you are making the rendering changes.
