Best alternative is eqMac
It’s done in a similar way on macOS: a dylib is added to the bundle and an LC_LOAD command is added to the app binary. The dylib is the first thing that runs because of using the constructor attribute, like this: https://notes.alinpanaitiu.com/Injecting%20a%20DYLIB%20into%...
The nice thing is that a signed app will refuse to load a dylib that does not have the same signature. So crackers will be forced to change the whole app signature which can be easily detected in app code.
I have that kind of protection in Lunar (https://lunar.fyi/) and Clop (https://lowtechguys.com/clop) and it seems to be good enough as they have no recent cracks.

Project mention: What does my soundblaster actually do? Also looking for an improvement on setup. | /r/HeadphoneAdvice | 2023-12-09If you need to quickly switch from X3 to other device (MB + speaker) there is the Volume2 app, since Win11 sound/volume settings are a mess.
Project mention: Can you recommend me a GUI settings app that would work nicely with i3? | /r/i3wm | 2023-04-23For sound, I have bound XF86AudioRaiseVolume, XF86AudioLowerVolume and XF86AudioMute to i3-volume. I’m also using a custom script that listens for volume change events and displays notifications. (i3-volume can do that for you, I don’t remember off the bat why I’m using a custom script.) I also use another custom script that automatically changes the input source to headset mic when I plug in my headset, and back to the built-in laptop mic when I unplug the headset. I start pavucontrol via dmenu if I need finer control.
Volumey is open source
So you know how some phones, most notably Samsung, and some custom ROMs have a feature that lets you control your apps' volumes independent of each other? Ever wanted to get that on your device, but did not want to change the ROM? Alcatraz323 got you covered with his FOSS Audio Headquarters app, which lets you do exactly that! It adds a new overlay button on your volume panel that, when tapped, opens a list of sliders with volumes for every currently playing app. The overlay is easily customizable. You can get the app at https://github.com/Alcatraz323/audiohq_module - the only downside is it does require root (and Magisk) to install.

Project mention: Alternative to Samsung Sound Assistant's Multi Sound feature? | /r/androidapps | 2023-05-12
The PCM to tap into for this would be in the variable readBuffer at line 1486 of the AudioCue class. The way things are, you're stuck with the size determined by the SourceDataLine buffer (in frames). But let's say something like 2000 frames is used for the buffer. Computing the RMS for that data would be straightforward. Just make it an intermediate step, possibly with a boolean to allow bypassing if not needed. 2000 frames at 44100 FPS comes to 22 data points per second. Is that quick enough for a visualizer?
