cakeqos-merlin
Custom add-on for supported Asus routers with Merlin firmware that introduces CAKE QoS as an alternative to Traditional/Adaptive/FreshJR implementations.
The little ~$150 Celeron mini-PCs with 4 network ports on AliExpress can generally handle routing close to 2.5Gb linespeed - basic routing doesn't take a whole lot of horsepower. Adding in VPN, SQM, and other features like that will take more power though.
My theory is that the 'bottleneck link' changed from your DSL network to your home router (incl WiFi LAN) when you moved to Comcast. If that theory is correct then the network buffer you need to manage is on the Asus router. Since you run the Merlin and they have Cake SQM/AQM available, try turning that on. https://github.com/ttgapers/cakeqos-merlin
