Project mention: I played with a python module called OSMnx to create the roadmaps of some cities. These include major highways, motorways, roads and streets that carry most of the traffic. | /r/india | 2023-07-13
Interesting! Full honesty I don’t know, lol. But if I were to guess… something to do with implementation of pygeos and indexing. Recent geopandas versions I believe handle joins with shapely vs. pygeos differently. Maybe if there is a declared predicate, it treats the spatial index differently. https://github.com/geopandas/geopandas/pull/1421

GRASS GIS offers powerful raster, vector, and geospatial processing engines in a single integrated software suite. It includes tools for terrain and ecosystem modeling, hydrology, visualization of raster and vector data, management and analysis of geospatial data, and the processing of satellite and aerial imagery. It comes with a temporal framework for advanced time series processing and a Python API for rapid geospatial programming. GRASS GIS has been optimized for performance and large geospatial data analysis.
Looks nice but it's probably not really usable for navigation. I checked the Netherlands and Germany. You'd need more details for safely navigating on the water. But it definitely has potential.
There are also some other specialized open street map based maps for
- rails: https://www.openrailwaymap.org/
- cycling: https://www.opencyclemap.org/
- sea map (competes with this I guess, and is a bit more detailed for navigation): https://map.openseamap.org/
And probably loads of other ones.
Project mention: MapBox's "Find Locations with Filters" default template not showing locations. | /r/CodingHelp | 2023-12-03When I download the template code, I believe and insert my MapBox access token the map shows, but I don't see any of the dots, or locations in the side bar. I've read through the tutorial a few times and can't figure out what I'm missing. https://github.com/mapbox/impact-tools/tree/master/finder
