terminal-good-image-protocol
*Good* Image Protocol - a formalization of a proposal for a new image protocol for virtual terminal emulators
Like some people here and under this post said, I like Kitty and would recommend it to anyone who uses/used Alacritty, as they are very similar in surface. I actually switch between Alacritty and Kitty pretty often, depending on my "mood". I recently went back to Kitty for image support (through chafa though, for better compatibility across terminal emulators). However, Wayland support is poor and I have some issues with fonts being too bold, although it could just be my config...
Project mention: GNU/Hurd strikes back: How to use the legendary OS in a (somewhat) practical way | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-08-07
Currently it's part of euporie-notebook, but I'm planning on splitting it out and publishing the web-browser as an independent project.
termimg (godoc) (test images) automatically chooses a drawing method that works best for the terminal (in most cases the current one). A Terminal capable of displaying sixel graphics is recommended but not required. Alternative display protocols (iTerm2, kitty, Terminology, DomTerm) or drawing directly into the window/background (X11, GDI+, urxvt) are used. Terminal multiplexers (tmux, screen, ...) are currently only being checked for, later positioning in the panes seems doable (tmux, not screen).
