Project mention: Ask HN: What apps have you created for your own use? | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-12-12Most of my programs were written for my own use, including:
• A keyboard layout to type numerous non-English letters, punctuation marks and mathematical symbols, originally for Windows but subsequently ported to Linux and Mac [https://github.com/bradrn/Conkey]
• A ‘sound change applier’ for my hobby of language construction, to simulate the process of historical sound change [https://bradrn.com/brassica/]
• A small browser extension to save the full text of all webpages I visit, and a local client to search the database [not open-sourced, apologies!]
The first two have gained a few other users since being released, but I’m pretty sure I’m still the one who uses them the most!
Project mention: Searching for a Latin translation of Aurelius' Meditations as a text only file for a stoic lorem ipsum generator | /r/Stoicism | 2023-07-25I'm currently working on a python script that generates Marcus Aurelius' quotes as lorem ipsum texts but I struggle to find a text only file which includes the latin translation. I only found a scan of an old bilingual greek-latin copy on google books which makes it impossible to copy the latin text without copying the greek one. If anyone is interested in this project and has such a text only file in Latin, they could commit on https://github.com/ginschel/stoicumipsum. Thanks in advance. At the moment I have only an incomplete text file with some loose quotes I found on blogs all over the internet.
