I've done every year in Haskell (2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021), and so have several other people such as /u/glguy. I don't see if /u/mstksg has anything published for 2015 but they've done 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 along with some pretty good writeups, I recommend checking those out.

Once I finally understood how the examples worked with subpackets, I was able to come up with what I think is a nice clean solution. I ended up using an Iterator that got passed around to various sealed types that would parse themselves out. I defined several extension functions on Iterator to make things easier to read.

C# solution, this day is the day when my code for the first part returns the correct value for the second part! Secret is that I didn't read that I need numbers of dots after the first fold and I did print results out of curiosity. But it works!
