98% of people currently incarcerated in the U.S. have not had a trial. In fact, around 25% of them haven't even been convicted of a crime as they're being held in pre-trial detention (usually a misnomer because, as mentioned, most of them will make a plea bargain before going to trial.)

EBS: the United States is worse for having close to 0.66% (this includes 2.3% of all african americans) of it's population incarcerated, compared to china having only 0.12-0.22% (the higher number including roughly 12.3% of their uighur population). vs the opposite being worse.

We are sending more foster kids to prison than to college
Only 2% of the incarcerated population has had a trial[0]. How can we even prove that there is a crime problem with that type of statistic?
