Please help? Can't get Zorin to work on my laptop. Keyboard problems
Hi guys, thank you for your support and immediate responses <3 So I had a list of some more things to try and wanted to get through them first. And in doing so I found the answer that worked for me. It was *drumroll* the most boring fix ever of just turning Secureboot off in the BIOS! I had no idea it could make such an impact, in fact I thought it was not such a big deal and left this suggestion for later. I also want to just briefly summarize the things I did in more detail, in case it helps anyone else out with this annoying issue. I compiled the following notes (on notepad) while trying fixes and I will just copy/past them here: background info: I8042PRT.SYS PS/2 keyboard not detected/useable in zorin/ubuntu, mousepad normal things tried: #Went through these options (+)sudo showkey, or sudo showkey -s: no keys at all recognized #pressing keys shows no response (+)update kernel 16.09? installation w issues, output: missing firmware, version 5.15 shown still #cant remember what i did here but the kernel was already updated (+)chassis type: cat /sys/class/dmi/id/chassis_type =10 and if not 31/32, continue if no output, irrelevant #followed directions based on one guide, no output on command meant not applicable (+)input sources check language, settings slow/bounce keys off keyboard english, keys already off #settings language/accessibility fine (+)xinput --list: output shows keyboard detection faulty apparently (virtual core instead of AT translated keyboard) keyboard enable/disable fix based on ids from xinput, github code: https://github.com/zma/usefulscripts/tree/main/script/laptopkb tutorial at https://www.systutorials.com/how-to-disable-and-enable-laptop-keyboard-in-linux/ output: script command not found #unfortunately enable fix code didnt work
