How to format terminal output in a buffer?
Check out xterm-color, and in particulair the function xterm-color-colorize-buffer. You can call this function interactively, from another script (from npm/your linter or something?), or do something fancy such that it's automatically called in certain circumstances (see the github I just linked). Hot tip: M-x customize-group xterm-xolor to set this package's colors to match those of your terminal (colors may look out of place/terrible otherwise).
