Well... I made this thing https://github.com/L0v3P01s0n/sleepwalk. It's not much, but it certainly took me several months of daily driving linux phones to reach this point. Hope it's useful to you 🙂

https://github.com/L0v3P01s0n/sleepwalk Here you go. Making this thing made it a lot easier to use a linux phone as my main one. I still need to figure out how to make this reach more people cause otherwise I would just have made this for myself only xD
  • Is anyone really using this?

  • Uses for PinePhone

Here you go: https://github.com/L0v3P01s0n/sleepwalk-phosh. It's a script to periodically wake up the PinePhone so you can get notifications. Currently only works for the OG PP on systemd distros using phosh. I do plan on eventually making it universally compatible with any distro and DE, as well as adding PinePhone Pro support once I get my hands on one. Hope you find it useful

oh yeah completely forgot... sorry xD. Here you go: https://github.com/L0v3P01s0n/sleepwalk-phosh. It's still not complete as it only works on phosh right now (heavily relies on gnome-session.inhibit binary), but I plan on making it compatible with every DE, and at least all systemd distros. Also I don't own the Pro so... it will take a while until I can develop for it.
  • Is it possible to daily drive the Pinephone pro? Or is it just not ready yet?
    2 projects | /r/PINE64official | 28 Jan 2023
I have actually been developing something to help with receiving notifications inside the pocket... like normal phones do xD. I'll link it to you (https://github.com/L0v3P01s0n/sleepwalk-phosh). It's not yet complete, as it doesn't work on every DE, only phosh for now, and it also doesn't work on non-systemd distros (mainly pmOS). Since I don't have the Pro to develop on it, it also isn't compatible with the pro. But one day it will be able to run no matter what you are using. Maybe it's useful to you
  • Just a PinePhone :)

I come from using aosp android with no google services, rooted and with microg. Been using the thing as a daily driver for a year now, and I'm also developing some stuff for it to make it even more daily driveable (UwU). I recently got the keyboard (and the PineTime too!) for it and I read about it and noticed most of the charge goes to the keyboard so the phone barely charges. You can't change the priority of it, but you can limit how much goes to the PP battery and how much goes to the KB battery (OwO). So yeah, after tweaking the values according to the charger you use, it's fine (as long as it's 3A max, otherwise goodbye battery and potentially phone). Been loving this thing from day 1, loving it more each day it passes and it gets better, also trying to make it better myself. I don't miss anything about my prior android phones yet, thanks to alternative clients for social media that I'm forced to use to communicate and also thanks to Waydroid (https://waydro.id/). Also typing on the keyboard for me is great, both like a laptop or with the thumbs while using it handheld.

I'm with you on this one, I've been using the OG as daily driver for a year now, and I'm also developing a bit for it to make it better as a daily driver, like making notifications actually reach while in your pocket with some other tweaks (https://github.com/L0v3P01s0n/sleepwalk-phosh). It's mostly complete, but I need to work on a script to return the modem to its original state (restarting it and figuring out a way to know if you had mobile data on or off before it went out, also I need to figure out how to enter the pin automatically too), since it has a bad habit of stopping working when he wants, making mobile data useless at some point which the modem never returns.
