Hello! I'm learning C++ and working on porting FlashTrek: Assualt to Godot. Progress is starting to slow, having trouble making C++ modules but I plan on learning more about C++ modules, gdextension, and while I learn I will continue to translate the actionscript 2 to a description for new code to be created off of. Project is here. Wish me luck and feel free to join the force!
  • Looking for Advice on Learning to make C++ Modules

I am learning C++ and I am working on a game. I want to make it entirely in C++ so I would like to use modules and gdnative, (which I hear is called something else now?), to tie them to the engine. So far I have been looking at Progger Parrot and the Godot source code. I can understand how to do things like summator, but I am struggling on things like how to make a new node that adds movement to Kinematicbody2D. So far my plan is to re-watch some of Progger Parrot on modules and gdnative, look at static_body2d.h and static_body2d.cpp to try and find how to do this. I think what I'll do is find section on kinematicbody2d and figure out what it is doing line by line, that should help give me some picture of what to do, how to create a new child node under kinematicbody2d that adds movement to it. Also I may take a look at code done In gdscript for kinematicbody2d with basic movement and try to find where each of the commands come from and try to re--implement them in c++ module. I came here to get some advice on how to learn more about making c++ modules with godot especially with ones dealing with graphics like kinematicbbody2d and to make sure that I was looking in the right place for my answers and to be shown a better course if know. Thank you for your time. :)

Before I try moving BM2 I want to try something simpler first. So currently I am working on moving FlashTrek: Assault to Godot. This is a hobby project and currently I am the only one working on the project. Wish me luck and feel free to join the force at https://github.com/Beta-Cygni-A/reddit-Godot_Game_Jam (Got the join the force part from Dondan)

I'm interested, I got school and working on a game too, would like to hear more about your project and what I would do.
  • r/godot Game Jam: Progress Report
    1 project | /r/godot | 28 Nov 2022
I tried starting a game jam to celebrate 100k subs on r/godot but so far I haven't got any collaborators. One person did make a comment though, with some ideas for the project. So it's kinda dead. I have decided to continue with the project, just for learning purposes. Since no game idea has been decided upon except for simple, 2D, and modular, I have chosen the idea of porting a game I like. I plan to remake the simple 2D Flash Game, Flash Trek: Assault, in Godot. I will try to remake it in a modular way. Wish me luck and fell free to join the force at https://github.com/Beta-Cygni-A/reddit-Godot_Game_Jam Development talk is here
