  I think this is a really beautifully designed hash function, based on the math of polynomials in finite fields, and it's also really fast (33 GiB/sec on M1) and passes all of SMHasher. It's a Carter-Wegman polynomial hash with a invertible final mix and add inspired by both Murmur and Chacha. I think the guy does a really nice job of simply explaining the proof of near-universality and collision bound (https://github.com/orlp/polymur-hash/blob/master/extras/universality-proof.md). I think this design is great, elegant, beautiful and could be scaled up potentially. Also his implementation has a lot of tricks to keep it fast. Well worth a read, his concise GitHub work is.
