Just started lock picking about 5 minutes ago. Got this no.3 master lock. Box said “improved pin and tumbler for harder picking.” Doubt it.
Check out this site to get a feel for progression levels if you're wanting to slowly work your way up to the top. It's also how this subreddit grades you for your belts, so it's a great resource if you want to be part of that

Can I pick your brains?
Basically no criminals pick locks. It's a skill that takes a lot of practice and is slow to employ. Why would they go through that trouble when they can break your window or slim jim the door? Boltcutters or a hammer can open most locks. Basically, I wouldn't sweat it too much. If you can't be deterred from worrying about it, pretty much anything on this list green belt or above will stop *most* low skill attacks (like rakes/bypass tools/inexperienced pickers, not boltcutters or hammers lol).

LPUbelts presents: Path to Black
Another list from the LPUbelts team. Here's a slightly different take than the path I actually took, focusing on dimple locks. I did use them from Purple to Black and they are a fascinating and challenging switch from "traditional" pin-tumbler locks.

I think this is my white and yellow belt, please help clarify.
Use this list of locks and there belt ranks enter the name of the lock to see if it is on this list. If it is not, it is a white belt. Every lock that is not rated is a white belt.
