Is there a difference between lock status in HomeKit vs the August app? IOW when it shows offline or unresponsive in HK, does it still work in the August app, or no? If so, and especially if you already have a homebridge setup, you might try using the homebridge-august plugin (which is written by the homebridge dev) and pull your locks into HK through the back door, as it were. This little workaround gives HK the same reliability as the August app, plus it allows you to use any August lock, not just the HomeKit-enabled models.

If you have a Homebridge server, you can install the homebridge-august plugin, which uses the same API as the August app to control the locks -- meaning you don't need to add the locks themselves to HomeKit, nothing has to be within Bluetooth range, you don't even need HomeKit-enabled locks, you can use the standard Smart Lock that looks more like a normal deadbolt thumb latch, and operate it remotely via HomeKit.
