HackOS
This is a hobby operating system I'm currently developing. I have big hopes that it will eventually turn out to some kind of hacking toolset, but of course that is just the plan, and may turn out completely differently.

Could not set a new video mode with VESA
2.- you are for some reason oring bx with 0x4000 right before switching video mode. I dont know where you got that from but as of http://www.ctyme.com/intr/rb-0275.htm you just put the mode in bx, there is no such thing as lfb enable. Now, at some point you will need to get the lfb. http://www.ctyme.com/intr/rb-0274.htm this one seems to provide the lfb, but just for vbe 2+ (so even more ancient pc's that have vbe 1.2 or less wont give you the lfb through this interrupt). You can (if you want) take a peek at grubs code and search for how they parse such information. https://github.com/coreos/grub
