  • best way to keep copies of rom save files for other machines?

I wrote a pair of utilities for RetroPie and ArkOS that can use any cloud service supported by rclone. It automatically detects your RetroArch savefile/savestate config and creates watchers to handle each directory. The trick is that if you use it with more than one device, your save settings in retroarch.cfg must match across all devices (and depending on your settings, your ROM directories should also have the same hierarchy on all devices). See the readmes for more info. For convenience, it can also re-write your RetroArch config to a “recommended” setting. It does have some issues and quirks that I need to address, but it works as advertised. Here’s a video!
  • (Help!) Skraper software is treating each bin/cue file and each track of my PSX games as seperate game entries. Is there a way to consolidate this so each game is only displayed once?

Got it, that makes sense. Always interesting to hear other ppl’s networking setups! I have two Pis running RetroPie and Kodi, with one acting as a fileserver and single source of truth. The other more or less thinks it’s the same Pi filesystem-wise via samba and fstab mounts. Savefiles are local and synced to/from the cloud by bash scripts and systemd, and the client Pi has local ROMs living underneath the samba mount so there’s games to play when it’s not on the network, like if I take it to a friend’s house. I also have an RG351P handheld configured the same way. I think I have the same problem as you with making things complicated, lol, but the experience with all three devices has been seamless ever since I wrote all the cloud syncing scripts. It’s on GitHub if you’re interested. I originally submitted it to be merged into RetroPie, but it was rejected, so I need to convert it to a proper plugin, but it works well enough. There’s also a version for ArkOS.
  • Anything like Arklone (cloud syncing script) for 351Elec/AmberELEC?

I know that both ArkOs and Elec support rclone, but my understanding is by default this requires manual pushing/pulling saves to whatever cloud/remote storage you specify in your rclone config file. However, I wanted something more automated and stumbled upon Arklone by Ridgekuhn which can be sideloaded into ArkOS and has scripts that automate the syncing and downloading of saves on your device.

This may or may not help you, but I'm writing an app that uses cloud storage for RetroArch running on Debian devices. There are currently two versions, one for RetroPie and one for ArkOS. The ArkOS one can also be adapted for any Debian distro with a little work (see the README in the repo).

I have pull requests submitted to each project for inclusion, but if you want to test it, visit the ArkOS or RetroPie repos for instructions. I strongly recommend trying this on a backup SD card until it’s been battle-tested a little more.
