Is There a Way to collaborate for Free on a project?
There's plenty of projects or there that allow this. Resolve Collaboration was one of them. The idea still applies: Host a PostgreSQL database in one duschen and connect to it via a VPN (Tailscale, Wireguard, etc.). Make sure to also run a scheduled backup on the DB.

Using this python based programme that uses Wireguard: https://github.com/jonnyhyman/ResolveCollaboration - This seems to be the most promising but I got a specific error on the server side when using Windows. This issue has been reported on the githubs issues tab but theres been no fix in the months since its been reported (https://github.com/jonnyhyman/ResolveCollaboration/issues/30).
