MSFS on Xreal
I haven't tried MSFS yet, but I've used the Xreal Air extensively with DCS and with X-Plane. I use the Phoenix head tracker with Opentrack, which allows the gyro in the Xreal Air to be used for head tracking. It works pretty well, although there can be drift if you move your head rapidly. Still, it's the best experience I've had outside of actual VR in a PC flight sim.

AR a viable option for DCS?
I use the NReal glasses and a gamepad with DCS when I'm traveling. There's even an app that allows you to use the glasses as a head tracker, although it's not perfect and there is a lot of drift. The glasses work pretty well. It's like having a fairly large screen right in front of you, so the immersion is decent. You can also have up to three virtual screens with their Nebula software. I can definitely see how these would be good with MFDs, because you can see below the glasses just fine. For me the biggest downside to the NReal Air is the comfort on the temples. For my large head, it just puts a little too much pressure to wear comfortably for more than an hour or so. Overall, though, I really like these things. The NReal Air might work well for your situation.

I hadn't even dreamt of it, but I'll happily keep that portable flight sim travel setup.
Previously, I was using the GPD Win 4's gyro as a mouse look input and made ome other videos showing that. This was already convenient, but I received my Nreal Air yesterday and that was a perfect timing because u/ivideogameboss had just released [https://github.com/iVideoGameBoss/PhoenixHeadTracker](PhoenixHeadTracker) a few days before.
- New Release PhoenixHeadTracker! Playing Cyberpunk 2077 Overdrive Raytracing with Nreal Air!! You can turn around in games 360 degrees just like VR. Works with Opentrack UDP and Mouse Track and uses Kalman Filter to give you a very stable image in Nreal Air. Download new version

- Amazing! Nreal Air with Microsoft Flight Simulator, PhoenixHeadTracker, Opentrack UDP, SteamVR. I got it all working guys. You can play your games like never before with Nreal Air. These glasses are going to turn the Flight Simulator world on its head. Tom Cruise here I come.
