    We also run KVM/QEMU, and there are some knobs there to control Windows from the outside, including ACPI, virtual-disk overlays, limited paravirtualization, virtual optical disks. Look at cloud-init and DSC-Pull. We need to install packages reproducibly, possibly going back to XP/2003.
