Before I spend more money on the Wii U, I just quickly want to ask something
1: You need a Wii u gamepad to setup the console for the first time. If you can’t borrow one, you can use a software emulator on your pc to mimic a Wii u gamepad (enough to get you through the configuration process but not good to play games). You have this guide for windows: https://github.com/TheUnproductive/DRC-SIM-BACKEND-WindowsFiles and for Linux go here: https://github.com/rolandoislas/drc-sim

how to get an elgatoHD60 S+ working with a wii u?
This sounds like the correct answer. A quick Google tells me the Wii U doesn't use HDCP when playing games and such, so capturing gameplay isn't an issue unless you need to capture the tablet. And then I think you could even use this to capture the gamepad?
- I created a Github Repository to simplify the use of DRC-SIM on windows using wsl

So, streaming the Wii U to a PC without a capture card. Is it possible?
I have created a Github repository that explains this further and supplies the needed files: https://github.com/TheUnproductive/DRC-SIM-BACKEND-WindowsFiles
