DCSAutoMate: a program to automate cold starts, and anything else in the cockpit
My program would not be possible without DCS BIOS (specifically the Flightpanels fork, which is still actively maintained), so a special thank you to the contributors to that project. Also thanks to the creator of, and contributors to, pyWinAuto, another essential program for many of my startup scripts. I would also like to credit DiCE and DCSTheWay for some inspiration for what is possible, even though I ended up taking a different path.

How does dcs bios work/how do I use it?
I've been working with DCS BIOS quite a bit recently and may be able to answer some of these. First, make sure you're using the Flightpanels fork of DCS BIOS and not the original DCS BIOS. The Flightpanels fork is up to date, while the original has not been updated in a couple years.

Support for Mossie in DCS BIOS?
Check out this fork, myself and others have been working to keep it up to date and it typically has new aircraft added the week they are released. And yes, it has the Mossie :)

Anyone else working on ExportScripts for the Hind?
I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do (not familiar with "ExportScripts") but we've been plugging away at getting everything added to dcs-bios. Still a ways to go, but you may find some of this useful https://github.com/DCSFlightpanels/dcs-bios/blob/master/Scripts/DCS-BIOS/lib/Mi-24P.lua

What outputs (lights, vibration motors) and related features should a HOTAS have?
Okay I'm definitely putting this in the box of things to have a good look at later (haven't even played DCS yet). Just did a quick search and there's actually a pretty well documented mod for interfacing controllers with it like this DCS-BIOS which should make it actually not too hard to implement.
