I use Briss for this: https://github.com/mbaeuerle/Briss-2.0

It overlays all the pages on top of each other, you the human draws rectangles around the overlaying columns, and then it processes them into pages.

As for your PDF question, large PDFs navigate fine for me. I have a manual on mine that is about 1500 pages and the only slow response I got was doing a full-text search for a term. Links built into the file work on the Supernote and annotations are quick to load/clear while changing pages. You may get a 1-2 second delay if you're jumping from the first page to the last, but I have not seen any crazy waits seeking around. I've had to use Briss (https://github.com/mbaeuerle/Briss-2.0) to crop large margins out otherwise the text on my A6X is usually too small. Running files through Briss also shrinks the size a little and all links still work.

On the text size in the PDF question. If your document has large margins, I found a program called Briss (https://github.com/mbaeuerle/Briss-2.0) that might help. You open your PDF file in the program and it loads all of your pages into an overlay one over the top of the other so you can see where the text on all the pages are vs the margins. Then you just resize the blue-tinted boxes (https://github.com/mbaeuerle/Briss-2.0/blob/master/img/croppingView.png) so it only keeps the main text and not the empty margins. It then crops the PDF down to the highlighted areas and saves it where you want (in a new file is recommended). With the margins cropped out, the Supernote stretches the page so that it fills the screen making the text larger. I've gotten in the habit of doing this will all of the PDFs I upload and it helps a lot.
  • Kindle 7 vs Kindle 2022 - PDF books

One thing came to mind. I used to crop some PDF files to make them easier to on a phone screen, of all the devices in the world. There is program called Briss that can crop PDF files. For two column PDF file, you can set it so that each column is it's own page. On phone screen, this works great. But because the columns, and thus the pages, are very tall, you need to scroll, and scrolling and zooming on a Kindle isn't very fun.

I tried to google if CLI was possible in BRISS, and it turns out there's a BRISS 2.0 that may have it: https://github.com/mbaeuerle/Briss-2.0/blob/master/README.md
