First, I don't think anything is wrong here. The "we are unable to create a working story" message will come up for modded versions of the game, unless mods are not loading at all, or you use ImprovedUI which gets rid of that message - https://github.com/TheRealDjmr/BG3ImprovedUI/releases

Problem: My game crashes at start up. I don't have the script extender installed/I already deleted the DWrite.dll file. Possible Cause: You may be attempting to run a modded profile with Improved UI installed without updating to the new version. The Patch 5 version is known to cause CTDs on Patch 6. Fix: Improved UI has now been updated to patch 6. Grab it here.*
I thought you might like to know that not only have we updated ImprovedUI been updated to work with Patch 5, I added a UI toggle for taking screenshots yesterday. Say cheese!
