You should give Payload a shot. It's been used as ecommerce, as a native app backend using Stripe Connect, video game backend, and obviously enterprise website CMS. It can do all of this because it's much more than a CMS - it's borderline an application framework that gives you great UI. It has saved my agency SO much time.
Yes, exactly. Something like prisma, sanity or even contentful will return a json object that is much easier to parse in React. A good example of how crazy it can get is the parser in gatsby-source-wordpress
