oh hey! I'm the OP of that link! No wonder your problem sounded so familiar. Ended up experimenting a ton with the css to get the grey box to go away and fix the general glitchiness. I made some changes to my old github repository with my updates: here's a link to my new autohiding sidebar: sideberryMods.css Let me know if this works for you! Or if you need anything explained. Thanks for bringing this to my attention— I honestly completely forgot about this repo.
