So I've been trying to manually patch the 1.1.1 firmware for a newer version of Magisk, but due to the unorthodox mountpoints and images used by FiiO, any of the extracted recovery or other partition images are rejected by the automatic in-app Magisk patchers. Comparing the two downloads below, I only see a change in the RAMDisk, so I assume the original author just manually patched the firmware release RAMDisk with the Magisk init binary. However, while I can build a new RAMDisk in Android Image Kitchen by unpacking the rooted ramdisk, swapping out the existing magisk init with a more recent one, and repacking it, and although fastboot accepts it during loading along with kernel when flashing, I cannot seem to get it into a bootable state:
