Matrix is close, but still heavily in development.
I'm aware of this fact. As I don't belong to Europe, Discord has Zero legality to comply with GDPR and to delete my data from their Servers. Which I think is horrifying and also really unethical. What else can we do? Its better than pouring more & more data and making Discord an addiction because, at the end of the day, when you talk more with people and start sharing your life with them, you end up giving even more data and also more power to Discord which you don't want to give. At least deleting my Discord account will let me stop talking to people on it and stop giving up even more data than I wanted. Whatever I typed on Discord is already recorded *or worse* sold to advertisers because I've been using Discord for the past three years. I don't know why people use Discord, Facebook, Instagram, even after knowing that how these companies sell their data. People don't seem to care at all! When I told my friends that I was leaving Discord and moving to [Revolt](https://app.revolt.chat/) or [Element](https://element.io/) because Discord is selling my and their data also DMs on Discord don't have E2EE, which is a must these days, they said that they wouldn't Join any other services and Discord is best. This conversation made me mad they just used that lame statement, "We have nothing to hide" What I can tell is that I see a dark future for our so-called "Gen-Z"
In the thread was a mention of revolt.chat which, from my initial looks, seems to be very very similar to Discord on the UI level. So if you know your way around Discord, you know your way around Revolt.
