Does anyone have an ETA on opam 2.2? I'm trying to pitch OCaml for a project that should be starting in roughly a year, but the lack of support for opam on windows is making it a really tough sell.

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/ocaml

  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • opam

opam is a source-based package manager. It supports multiple simultaneous compiler installations, flexible package constraints, and a Git-friendly development workflow.

  • The project has a planning board for 2.2 on https://github.com/ocaml/opam/projects/2 and there are many active PRs on the repo. I wouldn’t hazard an accurate ETA but it is being actively worked on right now.

  • dkml-installer-ocaml

    The Windows-friendly distribution of OCaml

  • Jonah Beckford has done a lot of work on Windows support in the last couple years, and in particular a Windows installer that comes with opam+dune, etc., as part of his Diskuv OCaml distribution. I expect his version of Opam to work well on Windows. (In a sense this is a continuation of fdopen's opam-repository-mingw effort.)

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.
