6 months post grad...still no job

I will preface this that I am not humble bragging, just explaining what landed me my job. So I applied locally, and graduated in May as well with an associates, but last year not this year. Granted I had some self taught experience prior, but what landed me my job out of over 150 applicants total to this company was my github. Not saying it works for everyone, but the VP of engineering told me he went and looked at my projects for a few hours digging around. I had indicated in my resume and application that I had relevant experience on my github with what the company was looking for. They are somewhat old school in that they still do most of their work in PHP and Jquery. I had a project of a IMDB clone style site built purely in PHP and vanilla JS. I also had some other sites built as well using PHP for the backend. Then I had some asp.net and C# WPF projects too that were complex and he really liked that. They didn't even bother doing any technical interview with me, VP said my github was recent enough (everything within the last 2 years) and they asked a few behavior related questions, offered me a gig contingent on passing a drug test and here I have been for the last year or so.
