  • pv, here the dev page, it depends on your distro but usually it's already installed so it might come handy, you can simply add it as pipe (cp .... | pv) or use it directly (pv file1 > file2). The drawback is that it doesn't preserve the original file attributes, just in case this is an issue with you. I tend to use it when I have just one or two big archives to copy.
