I was actually going to build a completely different keyboard in this case originally, the "Scientist" but the creator has gone missing and has been quiet on the project for a looooong time... https://github.com/godders/scientist
Other keyboards use a type of Arduino Pro Micro board which already contains all the necessary logic components. The advantage of using a pro micro is that they are cheap, easily replaceable and have a huge variety of choice including the colour, the connector type and even the central computing unit. So for example with a Corne keyboard, you could build it with a regular Arduino Pro Micro, or a RP2040 based Pro Micro for extra features and memory, or you could use a Nice!Nano Pro Micro and make it wireless! You can even hotswap between them to change between wired and wireless if needed. Here you can see a modification made by a fan where the Lumberjack is actually made to work with a Pro Micro!
