  It took my a bunch of googling to find this, and it wasn't very obvious. There is a workaround solution as mentioned in the comments of the Github issue for this bug which states that the Pipewire flag when launching steam will correct this: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/6148

  I don't know which of the xdg-desktop-portal backends you would need for gamescope, but xdg-desktop-portal-wlr has a config file which it reads where you can set the preferred output and set the chooser_type to none. That makes it skip the screen selector for me.
