It's not possible with single instance. GUIs and other wrappers like squid-dl achieve this by running multiple yt-dlp instances in the background

Using aria2c will be a good start. (Also see that you have the latest yt-dlp and ffmpeg releases to rule out possible issues. Use yt-dlp's custom build of ffmpeg to avoid issues with some subtitles on SVT among other sites, if you are not downloading subtitles you can use the standard ffmpeg build. Also make sure that yt-dlp can find the proper ffmpeg version.)
