I've had a similar issue in the past (another machine tho) when a kernel update in Pop broke audio due to some incompatibility with the SOF binaries. Updating them manually is a bit dangerous, as it may cause problems in future updates. Another option is to use another kernel. If it was working before, maybe the "oldkern" when you boot still works. I opted to install xanmod.org, which worked fine for me. You can also install Mainline app and use a vanilla Ubuntu kernel. The problem is that Pop will always make the kernel with the highest version the default one, making things more complicated (and you cannot remove linux-generic without a trick that allows "breaking" the system), so you can either "apt mark" it so it will not be updated or create a custom boot entry for the third party kernel and manage it with some script.
