1) Nope, the point of Electron is that developers can just create an app in Javascript and have it work on multiple platforms. But Electron itself does need to interact with those platforms, and might not do that in the way websites interact with that platform. At the very least, the way the app is build for development and the way it's prepared for release are specific for Electron. There seem to be some electron specific dependencies as well, they'll almost definitely need an alternative for browsers.
