  • As far as I’m aware you need to install plugins to both emacs and vim to have IDE functionality, but yes, you’re correct. I think most people that decide to use vim as an IDE do it to avoid VSCode (electron), because they enjoy configuring things, or because they were already using a vim plugin in their editor and liked modal editing enough to go all in.
