  • Looking back at r/Twitch, this post from September 2020 seems to have been the first solution that got popular, and it revolved around injecting a script into uBlock Origin. That solution was iterated upon by another user in r/Twitch in October 2020, and eventually evolved into a browser extension (Chrome, Firefox, Source Code). This solution relied on the fact that Twitch didn't run ads in embed Twitch players, and would trick Twitch into thinking you were watching from an embed.
